I really wanted the page finish to be my next post. However, as I'm sure everyone has experienced, I ran into a couple snags.

One reason that I haven't been working on it as much is because I
have been loving and spoiling my stitching buddy like crazy. He's 16
years old, my family has had him since he was a kitten, and he hadn't
been eating lately. He had lost so much weight that I had to take him to
the vet. He was so frail and weak that I felt there was a good chance I
wouldn't get to bring him home.
The doctor kept him a couple days
and when she called me and said he probably has lymphoma, I broke down.
We've had him on meds, which has seriously perked up his appetite,
luckily. He seems to have gained a bit of weight back, too. I have a call with the doctor later today to go over his
progress. Previously he wasn't even well enough to be able to
handle surgery.
So, of course, I have been giving him all the love
and snuggle he could possibly want. He's my snuggle bug, and snuggling
is his favorite thing to do of all time. I've been giving him wet food,
rather than dry, and just enjoying every bit of time I have left with
him.

Here is my latest picture (ignore the wild and wacky pants):

The second snag is, I had 2 stitches that I had missed previously, and of course they were each different colors than each other. I went to complete them, and both colors were not in my floss box. Ugh.
Now, I never actually fully kitted up Luminaro, for some silly reason. I have a core set of threads set aside for it that weren't specifically for another project, and I have been borrowing thread from other projects, as needed. As you can tell from my posts, though, Luminaro is my main project. So now, anything I have been borrowing from others, gets reassigned to Luminaro permanently. I looked through several projects for these 2 colors. I did manage to find one, but the other was missing. With everything going on, I got a bit sad since I didn't have a chance to run to the store to get more until yesterday.

I put Luminaro aside for a bit, since I was just waiting for that color. Then, suddenly it hit me. Duh! Just go ahead and start page 5 until you can get to the store for that color. So, that's what I did. I got some progress in on page 5, and then yesterday I finally got page 4 complete!

Here is where I left off last.

Here is my page finish! This is page 3, 4, and the start of page 5.

I peeked ahead on the pattern, and thank god page 5 is the last bit of the carousel. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this project and the carousel. But after 5 straight pages of practically the same thing, I want a bit of a break. I can't wait! Maybe this will motivate me to work on it more.

(OK, I have a little confession. Another reason I didn't finish earlier is because I bought myself a new video game on black friday week. )

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-56886373054823085852022-10-31T09:03:00.000-05:002022-10-31T09:03:03.413-05:00It happened!
It finally happened! I got my stitchy bug back!

It has been soooo long since I have stitched anything. Lately I have been working on chainmail to stock my booth, and that has been taking all my time. I like that the chainmail is quick and I get a finish right away with each piece I make. And yet, taking time to finish a complex project also feels great.
But, looking through some of my patterns that I have, it sparked the urge in me to start stitch again. So, this week, I dug out Luminaro, and got stitching on it!

I had a few days during the week that I was able to get off work a couple hours early, which gave me some stitching time. Plus, this past weekend, my husband was off playing paintball, so I had lots of time just for me!

When I first pulled out the project, it took me a little bit just to figure out where I was. I thought I was on page 3, but nothing was lining up right. I had to consult this blog to confirm that I am actually on page 4!
I was hoping I could somehow finish up the page before today, but it just didn't happen. I am very close, though! Most of what is left is just one color.

Here is where Luminaro left off last, many many moons ago:

Here is where I am now!

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-56492877848966001952022-10-25T08:00:00.003-05:002022-10-31T09:57:14.452-05:00Shop update for my website.
So, my latest blog post on my website was just announcing some new items that I have listed and that I love. This isn't really pertinent to my craft blog, though, as these were just bought items rather than made.

I don't really want to copy/paste it over, since it isn't crafty, but if anyone is interested, my website is http://www.craftysasha.com.

I have had to supplement my convention booth with some bought items, as having to hand make everything would take as much time as a full time job. Since I don't have that kind of time available, as I already have a full time job (that I would love to move away from in favor of my conventions/website), I have filled in things with manufactured items.
This doesn't really affect much, as the items are geared toward the conventions I attend, so it is just more variety. The profit margin on some of these helps boost my income, as well, so I can continually improve and find more items to offer.I think I am starting to reach a point where I can fill 2 booths. I may actually get a second booth at one of my smaller conventions to try it out.

Well, since I want to try to keep this blog crafty, here is a picture of a couple bracelets that I have made recently.

Red is my favorite color, so I have a tendency to use a lot of it, as you can see!

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-24249581749416155412022-10-13T09:36:00.001-05:002022-10-13T09:36:41.148-05:00I'm coming back!
Hello to all who might still be interested in reading my blog!

I have not posted anything in a year, but there is a reason. I have been posting blog posts on my own website, rather than here. I figured, since I am paying for my website, I might as well use all the options.
I just recently started thinking about this, though, since people here won't necessarily want to have to go to my website to read any blog posts there. So, I came up with a solution.

I am going to start posting on both!
This shouldn't be too hard for me, I can just copy/paste my posts from my website over here as well. Plus, the things I like to post about for my crafts that I don't want to have on my website, I can put here and not have over there. Win-Win!

So, for a quick update on what has been going on for me lately:

I have been super busy with conventions this past year. Things are starting to open back up from lockdown, and all the events are starting to come back! This has made me very excited. I have had more events this year so far than I have had in the last 2 or 3 years combined. I actually have an event coming up this weekend.

I have expanded! In addition to my crafts in my booth, I have also added items to supplement what I am selling. I have managed to get some wholesale accounts, as well, with some suppliers, too. I love crafting and making all my items, but lets face it: sometimes just having some items to sell that you don't have to slave over and make yourself can give you a bit of a much-needed break.
I'm not saying that I am slowing down on my crafts, though! I have been actually tweaking my displays (always), and have increased sales of my craft items, so I am definitely keeping busy. I have increased my number of bookmarks, and just recently ordered more supplies for even more. My bracelets have been popular lately, as well, even after I had to increase my prices.

I keep doing better and better at these conventions. All of my tweaks and adjustments have been allowing me to inch closer to turning this into my full-time job, which is my goal at this point. I want to be able to do this full time, rather than as my part-time 2nd job.
I have been posting about some of my conventions on my website blog, and I can start posting them here, as well. In the last few months, I have had my best show ever, as well as my worst show ever. In fact, my last show that I had was definitely my worst, and I'm looking forward to this weekend to reset myself.

From now on, I will cross post between the two, but for now I will copy/paste my last post about my biggest failure, from about 6 weeks ago.

My biggest bomb, ever!
<div data-draftjs-conductor-fragment="{"blocks":[{"key":"6507v","text":"I had, most definitely, the worst weekend I have ever experienced since starting up doing craft fairs, many years ago. She thought I would do better, there, and she had just had an amazing weekend at one.

After looking some up in the area, I decided to give it a try. It just so happened that my first con was at the public library, and there was no table fee. I had absolutely nothing to lose! It was a one day convention, and at the end of that one day library con, I had done better than I ever had at the craft fairs. I was in love, and I just knew that I had found my place. Since then, I have been expanding my booth, expanding the number of events, and constantly tweaking my display.

It has been over 3 years since I dropped the craft fairs, but I started to look back. I figured, with as much as I have improved and how well I have been doing at conventions, I might be able to sneak back into the craft fairs and give myself so many more opportunities for events, to keep the calendar as full as possible. I picked one that would be pretty close, and the fee, whilst a little high, seemed reasonable. The main thing I kept an eye out for is that the event is indoors. I had a bad experience at an outdoor event, and didn't want to mess with it anymore. I haven't been stitching anything lately, so I don't think about writing posts here anymore.

I do have my own website, that does have a blog section that I have posted a few things on, but I still don't post there very often, either. I need to get back in the habit.

I recently had an artist alley booth at the Dallas Fan Expo. This is the biggest event I have ever had a booth in, and it was a lot of fun. Whilst I didn't make as much money as I was hoping, I did learn a lot and I hope to attend again in the future!

The artist booths there were so cramped! They had 3 tables in a row with 0 space between, and you can only get out on one end. Of course, I was all the way on the inside, so I had to crawl over my neighbors whenever I needed to go to the bathroom, etc.
I did get lucky, though. One of the artists in the row-of-three had Large items, so they were able to get moved to a more appropriate location. Since we had an empty spot, my neighbor and I both took half of their space and were able to spread out. It was so great! We weren't quite as squished, and we were able to put out more items for sale.

I did sell a lot of chainmail! Since that event, I have been making a ton more things to greatly increase my inventory. I made about 70 stretchy bracelets and a few dice bags so far. I have plans for quite a few more items in different color combinations!

Here is my cramped booth before we were able to spread out (and I was able to rearrange some things, too). I was able to put up a LOT more necklaces, and removed the straws. My payment banner was fully visible once we spread out.

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-38004354948290385822020-11-20T15:33:00.000-06:002020-11-20T15:33:56.799-06:00No recent posts... but for good reason!
I know I haven't had a recent post here, lately, but there is a good reason for this. My cellphone suddenly just decided not to power on any more. I tried everything and even took it to a store, but it couldn't be saved. I had some pictures already taken of some bookmarks, but I couldn't post about them because the pictures were on the SD card!

I borrowed a phone for about a month, but it didn't have an SD card slot, so I just had to wait to get to my pictures. I was finally able to get a new phone, so I am back in business.

So, first, I want to show the picture of the bookmarks I was hinting at with my last post. Those were charms from Avatar: The Last Airbender! From left to right: water, fire, air, earth.

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwyiRYTSrN2blLzbjAYAMnBcXNZcnejRY4Ql94JwIdx2bLrIHexf8rhJkqClL1gzu8HjrIe7lETgfh4ZEMb3iCuI8AafLczctzTQrNHqCApncik_fjQ90v-U_cIzfMalmC26ZI_mNxHchd/s2048/20201017_152147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I haven't been posting much lately because I haven't had a chance to do much, lately. I majorly procrastinated on studying for a test that I had to take for a certification for the day job, so when it got to about a month until I had to take the test, I had to seriously buckle down to finish my studying. I never want to do that again! I was stressed that whole month, and even during the test, I thought for sure I was going to fail. Luckily, I didn't! I passed, so I am good for another 3 years.

Once I had that test done, my anniversary was a few days later (8 years!). The husband and I went out for a nice dinner. I was perusing the drink menu, and I wasn't really enthused with anything there, but I noticed on the beer menu that there was a beer that was on my 99 bottles project. I, of course, ordered it!

This one is called Moose Drool Brown Ale. I really liked this one. The flavor on this liked to linger. After my first taste, the flavor didn't go away for a little bit. I liked this, though! The flavor probably wasn't the best pairing with what I ordered for dinner, but I still enjoyed both the food and the beer. My husband remarked that there was a bitter flavor to it, much like coffee. (He doesn't like coffee, so he didn't really care much for this beer, either).

I would order this beer again, however next time I think I would want to have beef with it, rather than delicate chicken. Or, this would be good by itself, for sure! This is a beer that likes to linger, so it is a good one to linger with!

Here is the stitching of my beer (I love that you can actually make out the moose in the picture!):

Here is the rest of the project so far:

I have also had a chance to work on some chainmail, and I have even more bookmarks planned. I did neglect my blog for a little while, which didn't help, but I am back now! I may even have more than one winner!

Included will be:

Lots of plastic bobbins (you can never have too many)
Thread organizer boards
Travel scissors
Handmade (by me) chainmail charm/scissor fob
Needles
Needle minder
a few other small stitchy things
Some random charts (if you let me know what kinds of things you like)
... and more!

This is definitely not a complete list, there are so many things I have to include. I want a lot of it to be a surprise!

Due to how international shipping is going right now, I want to limit this to the US, if possible. Things are getting held up in customs super extra long, and I would hate for things to get lost.

I really need to get back in the habit so I can start the monthly challenge I set again in September! Since I failed in August, I really haven't been in the mood to stitch, so I just haven't.

I got stitching again over the weekend, and I completed about 10-12 colors on my page. It may seem like a lot, but considering some of these colors only had a few spread out stitches across the whole page, it really didn't add up to much. Most of the progress seen is from about 2-3 colors.

Here is where I was last update:

And here is where I am now:

You can see most of the progress visible in the circles across the bottom half and the half-circles at the top.

I'm getting motivated to start stitching again, trying to finish this page! I wanted to have this page done a long time ago, I just wish there was more time to work on it! Work just gets in the way!

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-80256086736731558682020-08-21T08:00:00.001-05:002020-08-21T08:00:08.862-05:00Lego bookmarks!
A while back, I bought some lego pendants and earrings, intending on using them for.... something (I don't remember what). I ended up sticking them in a box, since they weren't exactly what I was wanting. I figured that I would find a use for them later.Well, here we are, a couple years later, and I found a way to use them!

I turned them into bookmarks!
I made one black and one silver, and used the same colors that are in the lego part, and I really like how they came out! The chainmail part is a little shorter than the others, but the lego makes up for it.

Also, while I'm on this rainbow kick, I made a new bracelet. Cost: $75, 1 10x10-ish booth
Location: Shawnee, OK
Grade: D

This past weekend, I got to go to the Shawnee Comic Con again. I went last year, and had a great time. Since the Enid con 2 weeks ago went well, I figured this one would, as well. Well, no so much.

The layout this year was much more spread out from last year, which is great. Last year, on one side of the room everyone was bunched up, and as things spread to the other side, there was tons of open space. It's understandable having more space this time, with Covid going around, but I think things went a little too far. The aisles were waaaay too wide, so people weren't being driven to each side of each aisle, they ultimately had to go down one side and back up the other side. It was just awkward.

The turnout for this con was abysmal. I thought that with the good turnout 2 weeks ago in Enid, that this one would do well, too. This wasn't even close. The first day, there were only about 240 people that showed up. The second day, well.... it was mostly vendors shopping with other vendors for the first 3-ish hours. There weren't really any other people showing up.

Luckily, at the beginning of day 2, the guy running things told us that due to poor turnout, if we wanted to leave early, we could. Also, this particular con isn't going to be held again, either, due to 2 bad years in a row.
I got to leave a couple hours early, which did help.

Overall, I did OK. I made enough over the weekend to cover my expenses for the booth, hotel, and food both days. At this point, I would call that a win. I'm just glad I didn't lose money.
If this con was going to be held again, I don't think I would go, anyway. It wasn't worth it.

Even with the poor turnout, it was still good to get out and do the con thing again. I did have a booth next to some friends, and got to chat with some other friends there, so that was good. I can't wait until things start picking up again.
This was my last confirmed con that has been paid for for this year. I already had the blanks, and some charms came in that I was waiting for, so I just went ahead and made some that I have been holding off on.

First, I finished my Harry Potter set. I already had 2 done, but ran out of a couple of colors of rings, so I had to order more. Here is the entire set, now.

Next is my set of Pokemon Go bookmarks. Yay! I was going to give myself a pass for the 2 days of the Enid con (from my last post), however once I got home, I quickly realized how much I am out of con shape. I was sore for a couple days and just couldn't bring myself to stitch at all. I will post an update, though, since I have progress that hasn't been posted, yet.

Here is were I left off with my last post:

Here is where I am now:

I want to pick it back up again, but I have been working on some chainmail again. This brings me to my good news!
So, I have so much inventory for chainmail, that I wasn't planning on making more things until cons start back up and I start selling again. However, I got a message from a friend of mine about a game store that he likes to visit up in his home state. Apparently, he was there for an event, and the store owner expressed interest in his chainmail dice bag he had purchased from me. Long story short (too late, I know!), he connected us together, and I will be selling some of my things through their store! I had my first shipment of items going to them this weekend. I hope this builds up some business for me and my website! I am very excited about this opportunity!

So, between getting things ready to send to the store, plus the con last weekend, plus I also sold my car and had it shipped, it has been a pretty busy week. I am hoping to stitch some more on it this week, and start up my daily challenge habit again.

In the mean time, I will post some of the chainmail things that I have made lately in my next post!
Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-43932632255548129232020-08-07T08:42:00.003-05:002020-08-07T08:42:59.048-05:00Con Review: Enid Comic Con 2020
Convention Name: Enid Comic Con
Date: Aug 1-2, 2020
Cost: $75, 1 10x10-ish booth
Location: Enid, OK
Grade: A

This is my second year vendoring at the Enid Comic Con, and the third year it has been running. It has been great seeing this one grow just from one year to the next. Obviously, it is a pretty small con, but I have been anxious to go to a con lately, since I have only had 1 since last November. The price for a booth at this con is still worth it, too. Overall, I will probably continue to attend this con if I keep doing as well as I have.

With Covid going around, I was a little hesitant to attend and was worried about the turnout for this con. Masks were required to be worn at all time, but of course there were people taking them off once inside (which was very frustrating). I had my mask on at all times, and I had some hand sanitizer on my table for everyone to use, if they wanted to.
The turnout was actually pleasantly surprising! I was worried hardly anyone would show up and I would lose money on the weekend. I actually did very well! I didn't do as well as last year, but all things considered, that's understandable. I got really close, though.

Check in was easy. I just had to find the organizer (who was right at the door), and he showed me where my booth was. I had asked for a corner booth near the front (door). I didn't get the corner, but I was right next to one. Plus, I was right across the photo/autograph table where the celebrity was for the weekend, so that helped with traffic. Location is definitely key for these events!

Yes, one of my display boards is empty in the picture. My chains got all tangled, so I spent some time after setup separating them to put them up.

To one side of me was a group who had about 3-4 booth spaces for photo ops and info about their group. It was nice having them there, but they showed up late and left early that first day. They didn't even show up at all the second day, so I just had a big empty space next to me the whole day. When I came in on Sunday, I spread out a little bit, encroaching on their space a little, figuring I could move back once they showed up. When I realized they weren't going to show up, I moved over a little smidge more to spread out a little.

Overall, it was a very successful convention, and I can't wait for the next one (coming up in a week).

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-11821014668508734612020-07-30T13:06:00.000-05:002020-07-30T13:06:18.295-05:00I have a con this weekend!
This weekend will be my first convention back since all the quarantine stuff started. There seem to be a LOT more colors on this page than the last one. The color in progress in that second picture has been completed for the page, and there was quite a bit of it, so there is a big update coming. Hopefully, I'll get this page done soon, although the rate I'm going, it may take another few weeks, LOL.

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-3878363299710264812020-07-22T15:32:00.000-05:002020-07-22T15:32:36.254-05:00Long weekend now overI just had that looong weekend to stitch, and.... I didn't finish the page. I didn't even get close.
This weekend was just one thing after another, so I didn't get as much done on my page 4.

I did get one good day of stitching, so there's that, at least.

First, I decided to go over to my mom's for a bit and take this to work on. I had decided to work on the blue circle in the top right quadrant, to see if I can get it done. Well, in the course of trying to work on it, I came across 5-6 colors in it that I didn't even have! Now, I knew that there were several colors I was missing, but I didn't expect them to all pop up at the same time!
I got discouraged, so I moved to a different area for a while. Later, I swung by Michael's to pick up those colors.

Then, I started working on that spot again. I got most of it done and was really looking forward to finishing it so I could move on to another area. Yeah, I came across another color or 2 that I didn't have. This just irritated me so much that I just couldn't bring myself to stitch the rest of that night.
I did make a list of ALL the colors I was still missing (only about 9-10), and the next morning I went over to Michael's AGAIN to get them all (except for 1 that they were out of). I got to work a little more on the page after that.

Now we come to Tuesday, my birthday. I was looking forward to stitching all day long and just relaxing through the day. Well, I slept on my neck funny that night before, so I had neck pain all day. Because of this, I couldn't stitch. I was able to find one comfortable position in my recliner, and if I moved, my neck would bother me. So.... I didn't get to stitch much until that night.

So here is where I was before my nice long weekend:
Here is info for IHSW, if you are interested: https://www.facebook.com/groups/757401391130415

I have a nice 4 days off from work coming up, and I want to get as much stitching in as I can!

I'm working on Luminaro (still!). I have gotten some progress on page 4, now, too. I can't wait to finish page 4, because then I will be halfway across on this row (there are 5 rows total).

Here is last post's update:

And here is where I am now, just before my long weekend.
I'm on a roll!
I would say that I have certainly made up for that missed day of stitching on my challenge, since I have a page finish already!

Here is from my last update:

Here is my finished page! I'll show a picture of the whole thing so far when I move the Qsnap. Until then, it is too much of a pain to deal with. Since I moved it too far over, I can get 3 pages done before having to move it again, so it will most likely be after page 5.

After my page finish yesterday, I had more time to stitch, so I just kept going into page 4!

I'm hoping page 4 will go just as fast! There seems to be more colors involved on this page, though, so we'll see. Plus, I have an extra long weekend coming up next weekend for my birthday, so I'll have more time for stitching!

My husband said again that he can't wait to see this project finished. He is enjoying seeing it come together, page by page. This is the biggest project I have done so far (at least with this much progress). He hasn't really shown much interest in what I work on, whether it be chainmail or cross stitch, so for him to say this multiple times is keeping me motivated, for sure. Especially now that I am on to page 4, which is pretty much the same as 1-3 so far.

Once done with page 4, I'll be halfway across the pattern, too! I will be 10% done at that point.

Happy crafting!
Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-23155635062694048362020-07-10T10:34:00.000-05:002020-07-12T22:14:19.768-05:00Windows update caused my challenge failure! So, crazy enough, I have already failed my daily challenge. How funny is that?
I did get a lot done over the holiday weekend, though, so maybe that can even it out a bit?

Anyway, I was getting my stuff together to do some stitching last night, and I noticed that there was a Windows update for my tablet that I keep patterns on. I had some other stuff to do before I got to stitching, so I went ahead and started the update, thinking it would be done by the time I was ready to stitch.

Boy was I wrong!
This update took FOREVER to complete. I could see it was still working because the % kept increasing, but only 1% at a time. By the time I gave up and just went to bed, it was only at 21%. I had to just leave it and not get any stitching done last night.

Here is an update, though. I had a couple extra days off this week and got extra stitchy time in (that just makes up for none yesterday).

Here is from my last update:

Here is where I am now:

I am getting so close on this one! There are only a few more colors left (besides the big patches of 2 colors, where that big white swath is). There was a tiny bit more done on the next page, as well. I was going along with an orange, and since I had a long thread, and there wasn't a lot of it on page 4, I just kept going. Now I don't have to worry about that color at all on the next page!Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-62719264911809354022020-07-06T08:55:00.002-05:002020-07-12T22:13:53.409-05:00Daily challenge: 5 days downSo, since it was so last minute (and since I think I only have 2 or 3 people who actually read my blog anymore), I didn't have any takers for my daily challenge. I'm going to keep with it, though, and try to get stitching done each day in July.
Who knows? Maybe I'll inspire someone to join me come August!

This past weekend was a lovely 3-day weekend because of the US Independence Day. I got a lot of stitching time, in, as well. I was really hoping to finish the page I am working on with Luminaro, but that just prove to be out of my reach, unfortunately. I do have another day or two off work this week, so I may finish it very soon.

Here is where I left off last:

I decided against taking pictures every day of my progress. Mostly because all those pictures will take up space and not show much progress day-to-day. I will take pictures every few days, but I will definitely stitch every day.
Once I get people to join in the challenge with me, I will take pictures every day. Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-6986009480392342432020-07-02T07:47:00.000-05:002020-07-02T07:47:22.276-05:00Stitching challenge: Day 1

Well, I know it was last minute, and I guess not many people are reading my blog anymore, but I don't care. Maybe this challenge will bring more people to my blog?
I'll just keep going by myself for now. To get in on July, I will leave it open to the 4th. Just comment that you would like to join for July!

Here is Day 1 of stitching on my daily challenge. I think I'll post once or twice a week on it. I was thinking Wednesdays, but I'm not sure that would be often enough to actually show my progress and that I am stitching every day.

Here is where I left off last:

Here is where I am after my first day of my challenge.

Yes, there is more than one day of progress in there, but I didn't take a picture before working on it yesterday.

It's weird. I'm on page 3, and so far nothing I have stitched really
looks like anything, even if I were to finish this page. And yet, I
can't seem to find the will to work on anything else. This is soooo not
like me. Normally I get bored with things, especially when I can't
really see much progress after a lot of work. This one, though... lately
I just don't want to do any other projects. This one keeps calling out
to me the most.

While I am still in love with this one, I am going to keep working on it as much as possible.

Sashahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03924737288487719752noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-430927673083116769.post-49796146321654341372020-06-30T08:33:00.003-05:002020-06-30T08:33:47.125-05:00Last minute: 30+ day challenge. Share me!So, I know this is last minute, but I literally just came up with the idea. I was going through some past pictures of a 100 day challenge, and I just suddenly felt the urge to do something like that again. I figure, since we are all supposed to be staying home, we should have more time to work on our projects!

If anyone wants to join me, please do! I will probably not post every day of the challenge (probably once a week), but I will take a picture every day and post several with each post every few days. My goal is this: Stitch every day, even as little as one stitch. That's it. I'm not even going to limit it to a particular project.
I am starting with 30 days, then once I reach that, I will extend it more and more each time. My ultimate goal is to get to the end of the year, July - December, having stitched a little each day.

I do have some plans later in the year that will prove to be awkward. There are some conventions and some trips, but I think for traveling I will just take a different (more portable) project for those days.

I know this is last minute since July is starting tomorrow, but it's OK to join late. I don't mind!
Let me know if you want to join! Spread the word! I would love to see everyone else's progress, as well.
At the end of each month, if everyone can keep up with me each day (and keep me motivated), I will give out some stitchy prizes and gifts!

Since this is so last minute, for this month, I will keep the starting point for people to join me open until the 4th. Spread the word out fast and lets get stitching!
This has freed up some time for me to work on my own things!
My last post was about the banner. By the end of that one, I was really wanting to do some cross stitch again. Having a color inlay (design) was enough like looking at a stitch pattern, so once it was complete, I pulled out my cross stitch stuff again.

After my page finish on Luminaro, I went ahead an moved the Qsnaps over to give me a nice open spot to work on. As you can see in the picture below, I kinda moved the Qsnaps over a little too much, and the edge was almost too far over. If I lift up the felt I have between the Qsnap and the project, it is just barely usable. I didn't want to mess with moving it over a little more, and this way, I can stitch 3 pages before having to move again.

Here is were I was last, with pages 1 and 2 done.

Here is where I am now, after about a week or so of working on it:

Oh, and I felt the need to change my grime guard, just for fun. I bought this woodgrain patterned one for another project that I have yet to start, and I just had to use it! (It doesn't show up too well in this picture, but I'll have a better picture in another update).
Also, I had only a little bit left of a certain color on my current page (3). Rather than just end it, I just moved on to the next page (4) and went down the row that way. I actually got all the way across the page, and that last little tiny smidge on the right is on page 5! The row finally ended, but I was at the end of my thread, anyway.
OK OK, I know I said that I would be posting my chainmail stuff on my website and this would be for stitching, but this project came out so awesome, that I had to let everyone know!
