IHSW and a review

Earlier in the week, I really started wanting to start on the Sleepy Hollow project I have lined up. I made myself a rule, though, that I wouldn't start on it until I finished the Christmas project, since I don't want to have a ton of WIPs lying around.
So, I have been working on my Christmas project a lot, now.  Plus, it was also IHSW this weekend. Fortuitous!

Here is where I left off:

And here I am now:

I also wanted to add a review, as well.
I have started watching some cross stitch videos online, and I was introduced to Thread Heaven, a thread conditioner and protector.
I was interested in it, so I bought some online, and it came it this week. I haven't had much opportunity to use it, but I wanted to share my thoughts so far.
So far... I really like it! It smooths out the thread, and I don't seem to have as many tangles with it. I also have noticed (and I'm not sure if this is from the Thread Heaven or not) that my thread lays better, with better coverage.
Since I haven't had much chance to work with it, I will continue using it to assess if I still like it after heavier usage.

Do you guys use Thread Heaven? What are your thoughts on it?

  1. I love thread heaven! It's a must if you're working with 1 over 1 charts. Teresa Wentzler's charts come to mind. LOL Along with keeping the threads from tangling, I find the floss glides more smoothly through the fabric and keeps the fraying down a lot. Lovely progress on your merry Christmas project. Hope to see what sleepy hollow looks like!!

  2. Love your progress on your Christmas wip.
I use Thread Heaven. It helps the thread slide through the fabric holes and my thread does not tangle as much. The threads are smoother too.I would not be without it:)

  3. Nice work on this one, and I've only used Thread Heaven for metallics, but it definitely made a difference.

  5. Wow you got a lot done. Great job! You are better than me. Once a project starts yelling at me I just have to start it. I haven't used thread heaven but I know a lot of people swear by it.

    1. The calling of the new project is great incentive to get this one finished! It isn't so bad, though, since this once has been yelling at me, too.

  6. I'm using Thread Heaven on my project on 25 ct linen. I am finding it helps keep the thread from knotting. I also tried it on DMC metallic thread but it didn't keep it from splitting. I am hoping to find something that will help with that problem.

  9. Love the progress - you're almost halfway done!

I'm also curious about this Thread Heaven stuff. I have a problem with my thread knotting and fraying/snapping - maybe it could help with that?

  11. Great progress! I use Thread Heaven for metallics. I have no idea if it works but it makes me feel less stressed about the metallic thread so that's a good thing!
